Palin attends 5 colleges in 6 years

She doesn't seem like a very decisive person to me. More news that makes me like her less for a VP choice.

VP hopeful Palin attended 5 colleges in 6 years
    1 hour ago

, Wash. "? Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin attended five colleges in six years before graduating from the University of Idaho in 1987.

Federal privacy laws prohibit the schools from disclosing her grades, and none of the schools contacted by The Associated Press could say why she transferred. There was no indication any of them were contacted as part of the background investigation of Palin by presidential candidate John McCain's campaign.

"Our office was not contacted by anyone," said Tania Thompson, spokeswoman for the University of Idaho in Moscow.

Palin, the governor of Alaska, was born in Idaho. Her family moved when she was only a few months old to Alaska, where she was raised.

She began college at Hawaii Pacific University, a private, nonsectarian school in Honolulu. She attended only as a freshman during the fall of 1982, school spokeswoman Crystale Lopez said.

Then known as Sarah Louise Heath, she was in the business administration program as a full-time student, Lopez said.

"We're trying to track down someone who knew her," Lopez added.

From Hawaii Pacific, Palin transferred to North Idaho College, a two-year school in Coeur d'Alene, about 30 miles east of Spokane. She attended the college as a general studies major for two semesters, in spring 1983 and fall 1983, spokeswoman Stacy Hudson said.

"We were not able to track down club affiliations or anything," Hudson said.

The school identified one of her professors but he did not remember her, Hudson said.

Prior to her selection by McCain, the North Idaho College Alumni Association notified Palin in June she would be the recipient of its 2008-2009 Distinguished Alumni of the Year Award.

From North Idaho College, Palin transferred 70 miles south to the University of Idaho, the state's flagship institution. She majored in journalism with an emphasis in broadcast news. She attended Idaho, whose mascot is the Vandals, from fall 1984 to spring 1985.

She then returned to Alaska to attend Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer in fall 1985.

Then she returned to Idaho, for spring 1986, fall 1986 and spring 1987, when she graduated. Despite her journalism degree, she does not appear to have worked for the college newspaper or campus television station, school officials said. She worked briefly as a sportscaster for KTUU in Anchorage after she graduated college.

The McCain campaign did not have an immediate comment on Palin's higher education record.

In a recent interview with the school's alumni magazine, before her selection to run on the GOP ticket, she explained that her curiosity and love of writing made journalism a natural choice.

"I was always asking everyone the questions, and I still am today," Palin told the magazine.

The University of Idaho is taking advantage of Palin's nomination. A prominent photograph of her is featured on the school's Web site.
    You'll shoot your eye out.

She isnt good for anything except something to look at. I think it is funny how the GOP has laid off the experience issues, wonder why? Also talking about Change, maybe they are waking up a little.

Man, if that's not the pot calling the kettle black (pun intended). Obama has ZERO experience on the executive level, and by his record of non-votes and non-attendance in Congress, has very little legislative experience. Again, he's campaigning on his color - bottom line.

If you want to go that way then Mccain has had no executive experience either, not mayor nor gov. She was mayor of 9,000 and hasnt even finished one term as Gov and all I have heard she has done is fired abunch of ppl. Again ppl like you only see color, Obama hardly mentions his race. If thats the case Mccains only campaigning his medals.

Apparently, you have no idea what it takes to be an officer in the military. Ever wonder why so many of our past Prezs got elected in part because of their past military experience? Because they were LEADERS!!
As for Palin, if she only had one day of experience in an executive office, it would be more than Obama and Biden has combined!

Mccain has had ZERO executive experience also. An officer in the military is not a mayor, gov or president. Like I said it was a town of 9,000 and didnt finish 1 term as governor. Shes was up there voting on Polar bears and firing ppl she didnt like, she brings nothing to the table.

Without a doubt, the dumbest, most noninformed, misinformed statement I've ever read. No Obama supporter should ever - EVER- bring up the experience issue. A street lawyer with 143 days experience in the senate - now that's greater experience? Jeez, you feeble-minded libs...

Re: Palin attends 5 colleges in 6 years

I myself think it's a bit hypocritical for the McCain camp to criticize Obama's experience first, then pick this woman for their running mate.

Just for example: Obama graduated from Harvard Law, was an editor for the Harvard Law Review his first year, then was elected president of the Law Review, taught law at University of Chicago Law School, has 10 years congressional experience, and was Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs.

This woman had trouble picking a school and major, didn't particpate in any campus extracurriculars (a journalism major not participating in journalistic activies/jobs on campus?), and forget about grad school....

McCain just picked her to try to steal the HIllary vote

Well, if the criticism hasn't really run amuck...now she's being criticized for attending multiple colleges, having uncertainty in selecting a major - that's the plight of many Americans. And Obama is to be recommended because he knew from the beginning that he wanted to become a street lawyer, wanted to help his race in spite of racial leanings? So an individual's worthiness is to be based on extracurricular activities? And on grad school? Jeez, poor Lincoln - he wouldn't have stood a chance in today's world.

Why yes I criticize her. Her history shows her motivation and drive as very thin. And yes putting your ALL into your college career means a lot to me and to other people. And I judge her on that. I wont lie.

There are others out there considerably more qualified and he could have hand picked any of them for running mate. He just went for the Hillary vote.

And it's the 21st century now... can't accurately bring Lincoln into the mix...
